The magazines, the advertisements, the pictures were suffocating her. Every time she saw a pretty smile it hit her like a wave. Not because of what she saw, but because she believed she could never see that in herself. Jealousy of the beauty she saw each and everyday would eat her alive. Simone was a normal girl, had some good friends, a happy family and was the smartest girl in her grade. Every one suspected she was happy, then again who wouldn't, she would throw on a smile just like she did with her clothes everyday that seemed to never look good enough to her. One day someone did, a boy named Carter had a sudden interest in her. Of course Simone didn't believe it, she got freaked out by the feelings that he had and pushed him away. That's what she did when new things came along, new things that made her feel any different, for bad or for good. After time passed and her unhappiness grew stronger she realized Carter saw in her things that she couldn't even see in herself, and put her beauty; inner and outer up on a pedistool to shine like the sun. Because that's what Simone was to him, that's how she knew her inner beauty could overthrow her insecurity.
This piece relates to the theme beauty and the two sides (inner and outer) because it shows that both count, but in different ways. While the outer beauty she couldn't see there was a different beauty she couldn't see either. But the boy Carter could and proved to her that it was there.
