Inductive Leap
In the book New Moon from the twilight saga, Bella's boyfriend Edward left her. It was extremely hard for him, but he had to because he thought that if he was him, being a vampire around her would put her in danger. In the first couple chapters everything is going well and it is Bella's birthday and the Cullens, Edwards vampire family held a birthday party for her. Bella got a paper cut and blood gushed from her finger and Jasper Edwards brother, pounced at her. Also at this same time a different vampire was after her because of a different dangerous situation in the first book. They two of them were very serious about their relationship, and planned on staying together forever. Edward gathered all these things together, and came to the conclusion that he wasn't right for her. He had decided a couple night after the birthday party and stripped her of any memory she could have had of him, all the pictures, objects and anything that would remind her that it was real, except all her memories in her head. This was an Inductive leap too far because because of only a few things that had happened he was convinced that they weren't meant to be together, and that she would move on with her life. Although in the first book, you could see that their connection was very strong and that they had more love for each other than most. You could see that they were so incredibly in love with each other, that they could never be broken. This effected the whole plot, and the characters because For the rest of the story, Bella was scared that he would leave her again because when he left, he had to convince her that he didn't want her anymore. Once he left she was broken and depressed, and Jacob was there for her, Bella thought of him as a friend but Jacob fell in love with her. This was a huge factor in the long run, because Jacob kept fighting for her even when Edward came back in the next book.
